Scholarship Description: The School of Physics at Queen Mary, University of London has been awarded funding for a postdoctoral Research Assistant position in the Centre for Research in String Theory.
Applicants with interests in any of the following areas are encouraged to apply: perturbative and non-perturbative aspects of gauge and string theory, dualities in field theory and string theory, AdS/CFT, string phenomenology and cosmology. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in the area of higher-order perturbative calculations in supersymmetric gauge theories and gravity with a focus on connections to AdS/CFT correspondence, string theory and twistors, perturbative QCD, and integrability.
Successful applicants will be expected to have a PhD in Theoretical Physics (or equivalent experience) and be particularly knowledgeable of recent progress or activity in this area. Applicants will also be required to work independently, have strong analytical skills and be an effective team player.
This is a full time fixed term position for two years commencing on 1st October 2011 (or as soon as possible there after) and the starting salary will be in the range of £30,229 – £33,659 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, final salary pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
